Dear Central Church,

I love Vacation Bible School! We are in full swing of VBS, and it is going incredibly well. We had well over 100 people at last night’s event, and 46% of the kids were new to Central Church! I’m praying these kids and families will come to experience the life-giving community that I have here! 

My 5 year-old nephew was at VBS last night, and I got to go around with him to the various stations. I loved being with these kids as they heard the story of Ruth, many of them for the first time. I think we take for granted what it’s like to hear the Gospel for the first time. If you ever need a reminder of how GOOD this GOOD NEWS, spend some time with 5 year-olds who are hearing it for the first time. There is an awe and wonder in these kids that I pray they always have! 

You can experience some of that this weekend. Here’s what we have planned for VBS Sunday. In the 9 AM hour, we will have a regular worship service. I’ll continue preaching through the book of Ruth. Some Life Groups are meeting, but most are not to accommodate the VBS program in the second service. Check with your Life Group leader to see if you’re meeting or not. 

In the 10:30 AM service, our Kids’ Ministry will present a VBS program. You’ll have the chance to hear the songs, scriptures, and Bible stories that formed the heart of this week. 

I just want to say a special word of thanks to Pastor Bethany Tibbs and her amazing Kids Ministry team! We had more than 70 people volunteer to make this week possible. It’s obvious that Central Church loves kids and families! Thanks for making this investment in our young disciples.
