Dear Central Church,
I hope you enjoyed the “snow days” we’ve had in the KC metro over the last few days. I love everything about the snow except shoveling out my driveway! Fortunately, my neighbor from Wisconsin came by and helped me out with his snowblower.
We’ll gather at our normal times this Sunday thanks to a group of folks who worked hard to clear our sidewalks of snow and ice.
Here are three things I’d like to share with you as we prepare for Sunday:
1. We have been a supporter of MidAmerica Nazarene University since its founding in the late 60s. This Sunday, we are highlighting that partnership by welcoming the Heritage Choir and Apostellō Worship Band. These musical groups showcase the best and brightest talent of the university, and you will be blessed by their ministry. They will minister to us in both services!
2. We began the “Cycle of Victorious Living” sermon series last week. It walks through a rhythm of life that is found in Psalm 37 that invites the people of God to commit, trust, delight, and rest. It’s a great way to start the New Year. There is a practical little book that goes along with this series by Earl Lee and Scott Daniels. If reading more is one of your New Year’s resolutions, be sure to put this one on your list.
3. Our remodel of the Kids Ministry area is progressing nicely. The work is scheduled to be completed at the end of January. We’ll have a moment to dedicate the space in both services on February 2, after which everyone will be invited to tour the new area. In this second service, parents will be invited to worship with their children in the new space! It’s going to be a great family moment celebrating this new season of kids ministry at Central.
Thanks again to all who gave above and beyond their tithes and offerings to see the Kids Ministry space remodeled! We raised $56,000 for this project, which was $6,000 more than our goal. Praise the Lord!
Until He’s Finished,
Pastor Mark
