Dear Central Church,
For more than 10 years, our church has had a missional partnership with the Church of the Nazarene in Cuba. We have taken many different trips to the country, and the last time we counted, more than 170 different people from Central have worked and worshiped alongside our brothers and sisters there.
It underscores a primary part of our identity as Nazarenes: we are a missional church. We believe God has a mission to redeem the world and he calls his church to join him in this work. We engage in this at a local level through our community partnerships, and at a global level through our connection with the International Church of the Nazarene. This relationship connects us to what God is doing in more than 165 world areas!
Our annual “Faith Promise” weekend celebrates this shared mission! On Saturday, we’ll engage in a variety of service projects. We’ll be packing meals for those in the KC Metro area that are facing food insecurity. We’ll also be assembling hygiene kits through Heart to Heart International that will go to help those affected by Hurricane Helene.
On Sunday, we’ll hear from the national director of the Church of the Nazarene in Cuba, Rev. Leonel Lopez. You will not want to miss this combined service with our Hispanic Ministry that highlights all that God is doing through the Cuban people who face many challenges. Rev. Lopez will speak in the 9 and 10:30am service.
Our goal this year for Faith Promise is $197,200. That’s roughly 10% of our annual budget and reflects our historic commitment to be a mission-minded church. This funding goes to support work outside the walls of our church and is a gift over and above your regular support of the church.
Would you pray about being a part of this movement? We’ll take a moment in the service to commit to Faith Promise giving for the next year. You can also make a commitment by clicking here.
I look forward to seeing you this weekend at Engage Day, Faith Promise Sunday, or both!
Until He’s Finished,
Pastor Mark
