Dear Central Church,
A few months ago, our church board spent time clarifying our vision statement. I’m sure you have it memorized, but in case you don’t, let me remind you of it:
We are a multicultural church helping people experience God, connect with others, and impact our community with the Good News of Jesus Christ.
It’s a compelling vision of what God can do when his saving and sanctifying grace transforms our lives. We can be transformed so thoroughly that our lives “impact our community with the Good News of Jesus Christ.” I want to share 3 ways you can make an immediate impact:
Engage Day - Pack Shack. Engage Day is Saturday, October 5th and we have several different projects that are designed to impact our community with the Good News of Jesus Christs. Pack Shack is a hunger relief ministry that provides nutritious and low-cost meals to those facing food insecurity. Our goal on Engage Day is to pack 16,000 meals for distribution in our Food Pantry, at Rising Star Elementary, and through other community partners in the KC Metro area. The “packing party” begins at 8:30 am here at the church and will conclude by 11 am. This is a great project for everyone, including families with young children. Sign up here.
Engage Day - Heart to Heart. Heart to Heart is an international relief organization that seeks to improve healthcare access in the U.S. and around the world by ensuring quality care is provided equitably in under-resourced communities and in disaster situations. We are partnering with them to provide hygiene kits to those in need. This project will be hosted at their facility in Lenexa beginning at 9 am. Sign up here.
Kids Ministry Remodel. We’re just about ready to begin construction on this project, which will undoubtedly be a place where our kids are impacted by the Good News of Jesus! As of today, we have had 53 families commit $32,500 towards the effort and more than $20,000 has ALREADY been received! Praise the Lord!
We need $50,000 to see every part of this remodel vision become a reality. I’d love to see 100 families get involved in this! A gift of any amount will make a big difference.
